Surrounded by a porch, the Lodge was the focal point of camp life...chapel, daily schedule, White Team meetings, mail sorting, jacks games, ping pong, special activities. Several large wicker chairs stood alongside the staircase to the second floor, and rows of chairs (some rockers) reserved for councilors during chapel faced the large fieldstone fireplace. An upright piano was centered on the west wall. The west porch had beautiful views over Lake Ossipee. The dining room had three rows of round yellow tables for six. Every Sunday evening, eager campers checked the list posted at the entrance for the latest seating rotation. Wednesday night movies, Green Team meetings, and campfire programs on Saturday evenings in inclement weather were also held in the dining room. |
