This recording was captured by Dave Clemens during the Wyanoke 60th anniversary weekend campfire in August, 1968. Normally, we'd be disappointed to have an indoor campfire for such an important celebration, but in this case, it afforded the opportunity to have nearby electricty and to record some long-stilled voices from our past.
This recording is of BMB, beginning the tale of The Golden Arm. Unfortunately the tape ran out before he got very deeply into the story, but just hearing his voice again will conjure up memories of after-meal announcements ("Be alert to the possibility of a weather change...", "Coffee on the veranda with the ladies present... ) and lots more.
There's more on this tape: Blue-Gray point standings, sectional inspection reports, and some music. You'll hear the voices of Tom Falcon, Walt Scheirer, Dan Mannis and others. I'll get some more of those clips posted here as time allows.
So, many thanks to Dave Clemens for the tape itself, and to Dave Ayars, who enhanced, normalized and corrected the sound.
Now, click HERE Enjoy. _________________ '56-C-9 C. Mosher '57-C-9 Bill Feaster

Check out this link. Golden Arms really did exist and their locations were sites of pilgrimages. "Shrine" in this usage means container. Does this have anything to do with the old story? Maybe not, but interesting nevertheless. _________________ 1953-1960
