I am sad to report that Robert "Bob S. Bigelow passed away August 18, 2020.
Bob was an outstanding student and athlete, and a published author and public speaker. We knew him best at Wyanoke as a great basketball player, and, as the underlying reason why a tarred basketball court was created next to the Junior Camp. Bob and his two brothers were campers, and Bob was also a JA.

Further information maybe found at www.lanefuneral.com/obituary-listing.

I am sure that you all join me in sending our thoughts and prayers to the Bigelow Family at this time.

I remember Bob as both a camper, basketball player, and motivational speaker. I saw him play for Penn against Harvardback in the day and then he played briefly with the Boston Celtics.

But just last week, as I was doing rehab from a nasty bout of Lyme disease, and I was doing some arm exercises with 6- and 8-pound weights, I was recalling one day at camp when Bob was holding out straight 75-pound weights!

I am sorry about Bob's passing.

Bob Ryan, the writer of this piece, is one of the giants of sportswriting both in Boston and nationally. He is retired now and writes one piece a week or month for the Globe. So for him to write this is a great tribute to Bob Bigelow.

That is truly sad news in a sad year. Much too soon. Bob epitomized Courage and Loyalty.
