It's been pretty quiet lately...dare I mention politics? Okay, okay, I can't stand any of them, anyway, but it's all we have...a sad state of affairs (oops, wrong word).
What ever happened to losing your dessert if you misbehaved, siesta IN bed, being sent to bed at midget taps, or, whatever alse did the trick?
Mike and Garth RULED the trip program, and nobody seemed to mind; 'Cap' Taylor RULED the Land's End program, and nobody seemed to mind; Dick Irons RULED the tennis program, and nobody seemed to mind;Bea Stone RULED the camp office, and nobody seemed to mind - what has happened at the national level, we have no more rulers ? We have a lot of focus groups, a lot of poll watchers, and a lot of people being so very sensitive that nothing gets done.
I say, bring on the Norm Risser's of this world, break out the wuuuurms, and let's go fishing, unless, of course, you want to play baaazeball.

Wasn't that a famous Norm statement while he was teaching us how to cast? "You won't catch any fish in those trees!"  My 1st year at Wyanoke in '56 and as a Junior I remember Norm pronouncing "The Pines" as "The Pints". Couldn't figure out what "The Pints" was!
After Taps and next to the OD table, I can remember subjecting a few misbehaving Midgets to holding water buckets and/or lanterns with outstretched arms as punishment. I don't know what the record was . . . . maybe 3-4 minutes? Can't believe that we did that back then! Today that would be considered in the same category as "Waterboarding".
Whatever happened to personal responsibility and discipline?
