I took a ride around the Lake this afternoon, and when I passed the entrance to the parking lot for Mt Major (Alton, NH) my best guess is that cars were parked easily a half mile on both sides of the entrance and on both sides of the highway. I'm glad I did my Mt Major climbing back when it wasn't so famous !! I even climbed it once at night, but Mr Falcon will have to further explain this statement.

I managed to do Mt Washington a couple of weeks ago --- that would be the M/V Mount Washington excursion boat on Lake Winnipesaukee, taking my 10 y/o granddaughter to see the Lake. This wasn't our first trip, but each time I see something new and different.

Tomorrow is Labor Day, and Wolfeboro will ratched down a few clicks until Columbus Day, then, overnight, boom, a small, sleepy Town will emerge to recover from the Summer tourism. I love it.

Now is the time to visit Wolfeboro - peace and quiet, great weather, no traffic jams, and everything is still open for business.

Next on the agenda - preparing for my 50th high school reunion this fall.

Dave,

You and Tom and I met one Columbus Day weekend to climb the mountain at night and scare some of Tom's students from Bement. I drove my VW bug as far up as we could and we then hiked from there. The next morning over 100 hikers came up before we got back to the car and figured out to get it turned around and back down. I always believed that cars were made to be driven.
