As I read and listen to the news re: sexual predation in the Boy Scouts, I can't help but think that the biggest scandal I'm aware of - biggest ever? - involving Wyanoke was the panty raid of 1960. It was dealt with immediately, firmly, and with an admission of wrongdoing by the person at whose desk the buck stopped. No shilly-shallying, no maybes. I was off either in the Presidentials or canoeing in Maine for a few days, and when I got back my councillor was gone, as well as several others, we were made aware of what facts we needed, and camp life went on.
Why don't people learn that confronting problems, even embarrassing, damaging ones, is always the best way?
