That's a really nostalgic flavor. So is evaporated milk on oatmeal. I particularly remember that from Saco trips, sand, wood smoke and all.
The first day on mountain trips, or one-day Chocorua trips etc. always featured lunch exquisitely prepared by the Wyanoke Kitchen. Part of that was a sandwich made of two moist slices of Wonder Bread, a slab of cheese, a slice of balogna ("cold cut") and prepared mustard. A few years ago, I bought all the ingredients and made myself one of those sandwiches.
Sure enough, those flavors took me back 50 years or so, but I think I'm finished with doing that.
Next stop: Welsh "Rabbit" over Saltines. Fortunately I haven't found the recipe for that yet. _________________ '56-C-9 C. Mosher '57-C-9 Bill Feaster
