I didn't seem to find an appropriate topic to introduce myself as a new member, so I'll create one.
I was a camper from 1954 thru 1956. In all three years I was a tent-mate of David Bentley. In fact, in 1956 David was company commander of the Blue Company and I was company commander of the Gray Company. In the fall of 1956 I went off to prep school and my folks decided they wanted me home in the summer. My sisters continued at Winnemont for a few more years and I visited Wolfeboro with my folks during those summers.
After college I became a mid-westerner and now rarely get back east. A few years ago I was Googling a whole bunch of words and tried Wyanoke. There is still a Wyanoke pennant on the wall of my den. One of the hits contained David Bentley's email address. We exchanged a few emails so I caught up on the recent history of the camp property.
I am now retired after 33 years working for the Dow Chemical Company. That brings you up to date on me. _________________ Pete Gilbert

Hi Pete
Welcome to the Wyanoke website that Mike Freeland has so graciously contributed his time and effort to create! My first year was '56 as a Junior so maybe our paths crossed in the dining hall, chapel or during Tuesday nite movies! There are some great memories recounted on this board . . . . some of which I had forgotten about. I'm sure you will enjoy them.

Hi Pete, and thanks, Jim.
Pete, I remember your name. I started there in '56 but as a midget so I was clueless (well, I still am). You were one of the "big kids" and therefore probably really intimidating to us little guys. Welcome aboard. It's gratifying to me to have people stumbling in here after so many years. It's one of the great things about the internet and the search engines. _________________ '56-C-9 C.
