Last weekend Sherry and I attended my High School Reunion Class of 1960 (you do the math !). Naturally, I was please to see so many of my classmates, some of whom I had not seen since graduation day. But, what pleased me more, and what humbled me, was the fact that many of the men in the class, and some of the ladies, asked about Camp, and about Winnemont. Quite a few of the men had been campers and staff in the 1950 to 1960 time frame, and some ladies had been to Winnemont.
I mean, there I'd be, talking to someone I hadn't seen in years, renewing our friendship, and someone would come up and greet me and then immediately ask about Camp. Bobby Freeman, a classmate, was an 8 year old camper; his wife Margo was a Winnemont camper, both in the 1950's. Actually, many of my classmates were familiar with Wolfeboro, and many were aware of Wyanoke even though they weren't campers or staff.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I am reminded almost daily of the impact Camp and my Dad had on so many families and individuals, and I am just sorry I didn't get the point sooner in my life - I would like to have thanked my Dad.
Here I go: If any of you have something you want to say to somebody, be it a friend, co-worker, classmate, former teacher, whomever, do it now before it is too late. Clearly, life is short, we just don't know how short.
To quote someone we all know, "Good night, boys." _________________ C-1 49 J-7 52 S-3 55 J-10 58
