I was thinking about Freddie yesterday (I don't know what brought that on), and his tinder-dry New Hampsha sense of humor.

It think it was Tom Falcon who told me that Freddie (who came on as caretaker in '53), when told that Wyanoke was closing, said "If I'd known twenty-two yeahs ago that this was gonna be a temporary job, I never woulda took it."
