Nice job, Bill. Some of this I'd forgotten until you mentioned, if I ever knew it. I've been working on a similar list which I'll post in a new thread soon. You had a couple things I had, too. Did I really used to practice trumpet in the Jr.-Sr. Shop? Could be. I do remember practicing some afternoons around 4pm in the Camp Store. Used to drive the kitchen boys NUTS. Brass instruments are like golf-- you can't take the summer off without losing serious ground. _________________ Camper: J-8 1965 (Kevin Ryan), J-8 1966 (Mike Freeland), S-6 1967 (Russ Hatch), S-3 1968 (Jeremy Cripps), and JA-2 1969 (Dan Mannis).

Great list, Bill! Many I had forgotten about. I would also add Freddie's truck that was used to cart us up to Mt. Chocorua and the CO asphyxiation we all experienced riding in the back of that thing! That may have predated your time at Wyanoke. There were no emission controls in effect on motor vehicles way back then. _________________ '56 - J-9 J. Moulton

Of course, I have many memories from spending my life at Wyanoke along with Dave Bentley.
But from your list, Bill, I was in Pat's convertible when it overheated coming out of South Station tunnel and all the people who cursed at us on that warm June afternoon. Of course, we were happy to be sitting there in a stalled car in all that heat!
And for those who are interested, Bob Dickerman is working at Camp Agawam for Garth, teaching baseball as always. I drove in last summer and there he was on the ballfield, looking just the same as always. |

Hey Bob,
Remember me? I was in J1 with you back in 1971. Back with David Baker, Chris Fox among others. Great memories of that group.
Thanks for the update on Bob Dickerman. He played abig part in my time at camp. I remember one evenign when I was 15 he quietly calle dme and two others over after lunch and asked if we were interested in practicing with his men's "semi-pro" team that night. Of course we were elated to get such an invitation. Mark Deluse and one other camper (can't remember who) and I played with his team that night. We were all very nervous but teh big memoryt for me that night was trying to hit against him while he was throwing a nasty knuckleball.
Another memory of Bob was during a game at Alton. I was playing shortstop and a wicked one hopper came up and hit me just below my left eye. I remember getting my senses back and seeing a crowd of faces standing over me. As things started to make sense I could hear Bob saying "That's the way to keep your eye on the ball!". Lightened up the momment. I learned a lot from him _________________ J-1 1970, Marc Liddle from Scotland

Bob,
Now that you mention that I do remember you doing that. It was a big deal at the time and meant a lot to me. I am still very involved in soccer. I played college soccer at Allegheny College and my son played at Union College. My youngest is currently playing for Milton Academy. I am the vice president and maintain the website of a local soccer club (www.easternmassfc.org) a few of us founded a couple of years ago.

Bill,
That's a good list.
For the last half dozen years or so I've been taking my girls to a summer camp here in Ohio. Every so often I get a whiff of pine, dirt and gasoline and I'm right there on on of the dusty rock'n root strewn paths of Wyanoke. *sigh* _________________ Marc
