A la a Camp Log, Wolfeboro awoke today to the sounds of many plow trucks with their revolving ambers lights scurrying around Town pushing mounds of fluffy snow to the sides of the roads. The melodic sounds of plowing were occasionally punctuated by a car drifting off the road into an embankment, followed by a brief, but spirited, invocation by the driver. Local schools were called off because it is too dangerous to drive - and immediately hordes of young teenagers jumped in their slightly less than roadworthy personal vehicles and headed the 50 miles to the Mall. What ever happened to the young man who would show up at your front door, shovel in hand, and ask to shovel your driveway and walk for the whole sum of $5.00??
I took a short drive to the Carry Beach to look up Winter Harbor at the magnificient landscape of winter blowing down the Lake. The Lake is not even skimmed over with ice, so the waves are pounding away. This would not be the day to even think about passing your wharf test, let alone the long swim - but a couple of adventurous experienced canoeist could get the ride of thier lives battling the waves.
Since Wolfeboro actually knows where it is, the snow will be plowed, and the piles will be picked up and disposed of at the local snow dump. Years ago the local snow dump was the Lake, but ever since someone decided that only rain should go into the Lake, this can't happen. (Another topic for another day.)
One huge benefit of a no school day is that we get to have our 8 yr old 2nd grade granddaughter spend the day with us. As they say, "A new snow blower- $$$, day with granddaughter- priceless.
So, in case I fall in a snow bank, have a nice day. Oh, by the way Pat Donovan, seen any hawks lately ? _________________ C-1 49 J-7 52 S-3 55 J-10 58

Great post. I can just picture the steel blue and steel gray monochrome look of the Winter Harbor scene, graced with snow. Enjoy! _________________ Camper: J-8 1965 (Kevin Ryan), J-8 1966 (Mike Freeland), S-6 1967 (Russ Hatch), S-3 1968 (Jeremy Cripps), and JA-2 1969 (Dan Mannis).
